A newly renovated cottage on Fire Island is on the market for $1.25 million. The taxes are $6,059, and annual flood insurance is $3,175.

Built in 1930, the house is nestled on Surfview Walk in Seaview. With three bedrooms and 1½ bathrooms, the lot totals 6,000 square feet. The property is in the Fire Island School District.

"It's an older Fire Island bungalow that was totally gut renovated this past winter," said Alan Medvin. He is co-listing the property with Samantha Raimond, both of Fire Island Sales & Rentals. "It's a great combination: Classic Fire Island charm, with a modern, updated look and feel."

The kitchen and bathrooms were completely redone, along with the floors, furnishings and paint, Medvin said. "They kept the footprint of the house and redid everything else," he added.

Some amenities include a wood-burning fireplace, central air conditioning, an outdoor shower and shed, and a beach volleyball court set up in the backyard, alongside a patio.

The property is available for sale or for rent: "The homeowner will rent it out if it doesn't sell over the summer," Medvin said.

The community of Seaview is "known for having a lot of family-targeted amenities," said Medvin, including a nearby kiddie pool, playground and bay beach with a lifeguard. The house is on the border of Ocean Beach.

"Right across the street is Ocean Beach, which is the commercial hub of Fire Island, so Seaview is kind of like a suburb," Medvin said.
